If we talk about John Cena's life before WWE, he used to work at Gold Gym in Venice Beach, California and his job there was Literally, he used to clean toilets. Along with this, John Cena also worked as a limousine driver and he appeared on a TV show named Man Hunt after which he gained a lot of fans. After that, a wrestler came to his gym and advised him to take pro wrestling classes and since then, John Cena thought that he wanted to become a wrestler. So, in 1999, John Cena joined Ultimate Pro Wrestling which we call UPW and he started training there. Here, he named himself The Proto Ripe and he also became the heavyweight champion of UPW for 27 days. Now, his dude career started in 2000 when he unofficially debuted for WWF and here he used to wrestle in dark matches, so people did not know that When did John Cena make an appearance? But in 2001, John Cena signed a developmental contract and was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (ODW). In this organization, he won both the heavyweight championship and the tag team championships. But he made his official TV debut for WDWF on June 27, 2002 when he answered Kurt Angle's open challenge. John Cena comes out and tells Kurt Angle that I have aggression and punches him right there. Then we see a match between Kurt Angle and John Cena in which John Cena loses. Now, John Cena lost the match but after this segment, John Cena gained a lot of fans. After that, John Cena took part in a tag team tournament in which he was defeated by John Cena. His partner was Billy Kidman and his team was eliminated in the first round of this tournament. He blamed his partner for this defeat and turned heel on him. And guys, I want to tell you that this is the only and only time that John Cena has turned heel in WWE and that was when he feuded against Billy Kidman. After this feud, John Cena went away for some time but when he came back, he debuted his rapper gimmick named Doctor of Thug Mix. In this gimmick, he used to wear a heavy chain around his neck which had a lock on it and while rapping against his opponents, he used to say 'Pro Pro' in these promos. He had a slogan 'World Life' which he used to say whenever he said something about any of his opponents. If they used to do it, they would have definitely used it. Now in 2003, John Cena was sent from Smackdown to Monday Night Raw and there he started chasing Brock Lesnar who was the champion then. John Cena had a match with Brock Lesnar but he could not win the WWE Championship. And then he also had a match with Eddie Guerrero who was the United States Champion but John Cena lost that match too and was unsuccessful in capturing the United States Championship. But in the 2004 Royal Rumble match, John Cena gave a very good performance and he was left in the last six participants but Bhikho had invented him and from there his feud with Bhikho started. In the year 2004 itself, John Cena defeated Bhikho and he became the United States Champion.
And this was the first official championship title which John Cena won in WWE. After some time he lost his US title but after defeating JBL in Wrestlemania 21 he became WWE Champion. In 2006 he lost this WWE title against The Rated R Superstar Edge but then he won this title back once again by winning the Royal Rumble match. John Cena became two-time WWE World T-Test Champion with Shawn Michaels and Batista.
